Among a series of event and releases intended to commemorate this milestone is the Field Trip Music & Arts Festival, to be held in Toronto on Saturday, June 8 at Fort York and Garrison Common. 

The inaugural one-day event will feature two stages curated entirely from Arts & Crafts’ diverse artist roster, co-headlined by a one-night-only return from hiatus for flagship collective Broken Social Sceneand 11-time JUNO Award and 2012 Polaris Music Prize winner Feist.

ataxiwardance: 1/2 The Mixup 2012 [July to Dece] (Part 1) / (Part 2) (Spotify) Hello Internet, 2012 has come to a close. Once again I have awoken from a haze of champagne and cold pizza to perform my sacred ancient custom: publishing a mixtape of popular music I enjoyed in some capacity or another during the past twelve months.  Those have been paying attention will notice the following: (1) I actually already published a “midway mix” for 2012 in July. (2) This “second half” of the annual mix was particularly bountiful; weighing in with an impressive 46 tracks of rumpshakery. (3) The mix has been entirely curated on Spotify; which means that many meritorious musical efforts from the past year (e.g. Disasterpeace’s EXCEPTIONAL score to Fez) have been excluded. A tragic but necessary sacrifice in the name of expediency. As always, here are the rules: Must be a song I fell in love with in 2012. This doesn’t really aspire to be a “best of” mix for the year but rather tracks that caught my ear through exposure by friends, circumstance, and my own exploration.  Must have been released RELATIVELY recently. I did bend this rule a bit. Nonetheless the majority of these songs were released in the last 2 years and all within the last decade.   Must not repeat artists from previous mixes. Two minor exceptions this time: Dan Deacon and Prefuse 73.
